About the Region
Located in the far north Himalayas of Nepal, the “Muktinath-Kagbeni” region is surrounded by snow-capped mountains, ridged ash and rivers, and the northerly winds of the narrow valleys. The villagers’ lives are very difficult.
The current population of “Muktinath-Kagbeni” is gradually decreasing. Because local medical resources are scarce, many villagers and old and weak women and children must wade through the mountains and risk their lives. They must undertake difficult journeys to distant cities and endure poor living conditions to reach Kathmandu for medical treatment. A trip to the medical center takes two to three days, and the transportation costs and medical expenses increase the difficulty for the villagers seeking medical care.
After the great earthquake in April 2015, due to their remote location, medical supplies and other resources could not be delivered. In addition, because of limited funds, the repair work could not be completed. Now the local villagers are trapped in a poorer life. It is urgent to sponsor all the funds to help the construction, provide education, clothing, food, accommodation and medical care. We want to help these villagers have a healthy, safe and secure environment.
